My Top 10 Songs of 2012 – Overall

Top 10 Songs of 2012

For those who say music is not that good these days, I respond by saying you must be old (note: “old” is a state of mind for me, not an actual age). This year may have proved to be the most difficult list for me to compile as I could easily have jammed 30 songs into the top 10, and that is a testament to the quality of music that is out there, the amazing distribution channels that have made discovery even easier, and a genuine push from artists to be innovative.

A beautifully petite singer from Canada, whom we know as Grimes, was the master of the four minute song this year, and one could reasonably take 10 songs off of her album, “Visions”, and make a list and be content, but the competition was fierce, but I do give Ms. Boucher both song of the year and runner-up song of the year, but notice which one is song of the year, which smacks against the music punditry, but if you want to hear the musical theory merits on why I went with “Genesis”, let me know.

The list also see a host of other styles and artists from places as diverse as the UK, Kenya and Chile, truly demonstrating that no country has a monopoly on quality music (and whatever is in the water in Chile these days threatens to truly shake-up future top 10s).
